Meet our new sales and marketing director

Welcome back Ragnar!

Tell us a little about yourself

Keeping it short and sweet, I’m Ragnar, 40 years old, married, and I have son who is three years old.  And I am also Kontali’s new, and first ever, director of sales and marketing.

What is you background?

I have a masters from the Norwegian College of Fishery Science in Tromsø, which I completed over 10 years ago. Since then, I have had a variety of jobs related to the fisheries and aquaculture sector, mostly within the context of sales. I have worked with feed for salmon, trout, and halibut, and most recently in the fish oil business. I am a very social person who is quite passionate about fish, so I thrive in any job that combines these elements.

Why did you decide to come work for Kontali?

Actually, my first job was a trainee program here in Kristiansund, in which I completed an 8 -month internship at Kontali! So, the company has long been on my radar and when this opportunity arose, I went for it!

For me, the most exciting things happening in Norway are related to the sea. Fishery and aquaculture are so tightly tied up to biology and there are so many aspects to consider when trying to understand the sector. Kontali has a strong position in the sector and are unbiased in their analysis which increases the transparency of the sector.

The essence of Kontali has remained unchanged since I did my internship here. Kontali is still data driven and still leading within their fields of expertise. At the same time, a lot has changed. The models are more complex, the coverage of species has increased, and the technology used in the sector is under rapid development . Our customers have also grown, and their needs have shifted accordingly.  Having Arendals Fossekompani as new owners and really taking a leap into developing a new technological platform is, in my option, essential to make sure Kontali matches the development of our clients. As the foundation of Kontali remains intact, I am excited to sell our products in new ways.

What kind of work will you be doing?

My role is dual in that I will be focusing both on internal structures and external customer relations. Internally, I help ensure that our analysts have all the tools necessary to meet the demands of our customers. Externally, I will be marketing the Kontali brand and our products. A very important aspect of sales is customer relations. I will be a listening ear to the needs of our clients and ensure their feedback and suggestions are heard. The feedback we receive is from our clients is invaluable when we develop our products and services.

What do you hope to gain from working at Kontali?

I wanted to work at Kontali to be part of the professional environment and fun colleagues. Working in such an environment means I am always in the loop about the latest developments and current events in the sector, which keeps me sharp. It is also very exciting to be part of creating something new and I hope to leave my mark on the development Kontali has initiated.
