What it offers

Trade Statistics Bulk Download gives you full access to the data behind Kontali Edge's Trade Statistics dashboards, one pivotable Excel file per Salmonids, Shrimp, Pelagics, Groundfish, and Seabass and Seabream, covering all species and trading partners of the species and countries available in Trade statistics on Edge. The add-on also unlocks the same data in Kontali's commercial API.

Why it matters

Global trade in seafood is fragmented across hundreds of product codes, origins, and destinations. Standard dashboards are built to surface the patterns that matter to most users, but a trader chasing a niche product, an analyst benchmarking a specific corridor, or a risk team stress-testing a single market often needs to go further than any fixed view can take them. Trade Statistics Bulk Download puts the complete dataset directly in your hands, so you can explore, pivot, and answer your own questions, whenever they come up.

Who would benefit

Built for traders and exporters digging into niche trade lanes, analysts building custom models, risk and procurement teams assessing market exposure, and data teams pulling trade data straight into their own systems via API.

Our methodology

The Trade Statistics Bulk Download is built from the same national and international trade statistics that feed Kontali's trade data on Edge. Import and export values are presented as reported at the border rather than converted to a single common price basis: export values are typically reported in FOB/FCA terms, while import values are typically reported in CIF terms. Each file is structured for pivoting, and the same underlying curves are available through Kontali's commercial API.

FAQ

Are you wondering about something else?

How is this different from the Trade Statistics dashboards already on Kontali Edge?

The dashboards are built to surface the most relevant trends at a glance, top products, and top/bottom trade partners. The Trade Statistics Bulk Download gives you the complete underlying dataset behind those dashboards, so you can dig into any niche product or geography combination the dashboards don't show.

What format is the data delivered in?

As a bulk-download, pivotable Excel file per species.

Which species are covered?

All the species available in Trade statistics on Edge are included in separate bulk download files for Salmonids, Shrimp, Pelagics, Groundfish, and Seabass and Seabream. But where Trade statistics on Edge contains the most relevant products and top trading partners, the bulk download files contain all products and trading partners.

Does this include API access?

If you have API access to Kontali Edge, purchasing this add-on makes the trade statistics data available through your existing API feed as well.

How far back does the historical data go, and how often is it updated?

The data follows your access level on Edge, which includes the latest available data of the current year as well as four full years of historical data. The data is updated monthly, but the different sources are updated at different times of the month. We receive and update new trade statistics every week. There is also a difference in the time-lag of the different sources - between 1 and 6 months.
